L Is for Love
So misused. So misunderstood. Love is not a description — it is an action. It is untamed, free, and unbreakable. It acts from a pureness that respects all life and a sensitivity that can never be disconnected from the fullness of what it means to be alive.

L Is for Love
This word.
So misused. So misunderstood. Stretched across greeting cards and arguments, whispered in moments of tenderness and wielded in moments of control, attached to conditions and ultimatums and expectations it was never designed to carry.
We have tangled love up in so many things it was never meant to be.
So let us untangle it.
Love Is an Action, Not a Description
Love does not describe its intent. It shows it.
This is the distinction that changes everything. Love is not what you say about how you feel. It is not the declaration, the label, the word itself. Love is the movement — the reaching out, the showing up, the choosing again and again to act from a place of genuine care.
You cannot love someone and do nothing. Love, by its very nature, moves. It acts. It shows up in the ordinary moments — the ones no one is watching, the ones that will never be posted or praised or remembered by anyone but the person who received them.
And it does not change its form based on circumstances. When things are easy, love acts. When things are hard, love acts. When it is inconvenient, when it is costly, when no one would blame you for stepping back — love still acts. Because love cannot become something else depending on the weather. It is what it is, always.
Untamed and Free
Love is not a cage. It is not a contract. It is not a transaction dressed up in soft language.
Love is untamed. It does not fit neatly into the boxes we build for it — the roles, the rules, the conditions we attach to it hoping it will stay manageable. Love has never been manageable. It was never meant to be.
Love is free. It moves through life without asking permission, without waiting for the right moment, without calculating whether the return will justify the giving. It simply flows — the way water finds its way, the way light fills a room the moment the curtain is drawn back.
And in that flow, love breaks down every perceived barrier. The walls we build between ourselves and others — the ones made of pride, of fear, of old wounds, of difference — love does not negotiate with them. It simply moves through them, around them, past them, until they are no longer the point.
No Apologies
Love makes no apologies for what it is.
It does not shrink to make others comfortable. It does not dim itself to avoid being too much. It does not ask whether it is welcome before it acts — because love already knows that its nature is welcome, that its presence is a gift, that the world is better for it moving freely through it.
This is not arrogance. This is the quiet confidence of something that knows its own worth — not because it has been told, but because it has always known.
A Pureness That Respects All Life
Here is what love is, at its deepest:
It acts from a pureness that respects all life. Not some life. Not the lives of people who look like you, think like you, love like you. All life. Every form of it. Every expression of it. Every struggling, imperfect, magnificent version of it.
And it acts from a sensitivity — a deep, unshakeable sensitivity — that is connected to the fullness of life. Not the surface of it. Not the convenient parts. The fullness. The joy and the grief. The beauty and the mess. The ordinary Tuesday and the extraordinary moment. All of it.
This sensitivity cannot be switched off. It cannot be disconnected. Because love, at its truest, is not a feeling that comes and goes. It is a state of being — a way of moving through the world that, once truly inhabited, cannot be unfound.
The Invitation
Today, let love be an action.
Not a word you say. Not a feeling you wait to have. An action you choose — small, quiet, unremarkable to everyone except the person who receives it.
And notice what happens when you do. Notice the flow it creates. Notice how it moves through the barriers you thought were solid. Notice how it makes you feel more like yourself — more alive, more connected, more fully present to this one extraordinary life.
That is love. Untamed. Free. Unbreakable.
Tomorrow we continue our alphabet of a grateful life. Come back for M — another doorway, another invitation.
